The former governor of Adamawa state and former Chief of Naval Staf, Admiral Murtala Nyako, has said the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) will face defeat in many states because the party has ignored all cogent advice.
Nyako said unresolved aggrieved situations, impunity and lack of respect for the wishes of the people will likely cost the APC its victory in many states, The Independent reports.
He said: “The party neglected all cogent advice given to it at the top level and so many people are today so aggrieved in all the states such that making them to change their minds is difficult and this may cost the party victory in many states.”
Nyako said the problems of the APC started during the ward, local government areas and states congresses where injustices and impunity gave birth to double congresses across the country. He added that the party’s problem escalated after controversial October 2018 primaries.
He said if the APC had listened to the words of wisdom from elders and conducted the ward congresses LGAs congresses and states based on democratic tenets.
“We would not have such serious aggrieved population in APC now,” he said.
Meanwhile, we earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed that two witnesses in the ongoing N29 billion fraud case against former governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako mysteriously died in custody.
A detective with the commission, Adekunle Odofin, on Tuesday, November 27, told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, that two people who made crucial statements during the investigation into a N29 billion fraud case died after giving their statements.
