About 700 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from Acha Oguduasaa ward in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state, on Wednesday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors, who were received into the APC fold by the zonal chairman, APC Abia north, Chief Chris Aja, charged them to have faith in the party, as APC was poised and prepared to deliver Abia from misrule.
Aja said, “Presently, Abia is facing a lot of challenges ranging from bad roads, non payment of salaries to unemployment. These are things weighing the state down.
“And I want to assure you all that it will soon be a thing of the past once APC takes over the mantle of leadership in Abia state come 2019”.
Speaking during the event, the APC leader in Isiukwuato local government area and a governorship aspirant, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah implored them to work assiduously so as to enable the party emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the Abia south zonal chairman of APC, Chief Okey Nwagbara has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwagbara said he dumped the APC for the PDP because of lack of internal democracy and impunity at the state chapter of the party.
