Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe states have been thrown into darkness following a fire outbreak which engulfed the Jos Transmission Station.
Although the details of the fire incident were still sketchy as at press time, THE PUNCH learnt that the fire started at the Kilometre 7 transmission station, Zaria Road in Jos at about 4:47 pm on Tuesday evening.
A terse statement issued on Tuesday night by the Head (Corporate Communications), Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah appealed to its teeming customers in Plateau, Gombe and Bauchi States not to be despair as a result of the current power outage in the areas.
While regretting inconveniences being suffered by customers in the affected areas, the JEDCO stated that a team of engineers have been mobilised to the scene of the incident with the view to restoring power within the shortest possible time.
He said, “At 16:47hrs, power supply went off. Due to fire outbreak at Jos Transmission Station Zaria Road. The management of JEDCO Plc has appealed to its teeming customers in Plateau, Gombe and Bauchi States not to be despair as a result of the current power outage in the areas. Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe states are out of supply.
“We regret inconveniences being suffered by customers in the affected areas. Already, a team of engineers have been mobilised to the scene of the incident with the view to restoring power within the shortest possible time.”
