The Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Kogi State, Engr. (Dr.) Sam Ohuotu has assured a leading aspirant for the position of PDP National Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Daniel not to entertain any fear that money will determine the direction of the votes of delegates at the upcoming National Convention of the party.
Mr. Ohuotu, who, alongside other State Executive members, leaders and delegates received Daniel and his delegation at the state party secretariat in Lokoja said the party in Kogi state is well organised and experienced enough to ensure that only a tested, trusted and innovative leader like Daniel emerges as the party’s national chairman, assuring that they are unperturbed by those throwing money around to sway delegates.
Referring to Otunba Gbenga Daniel he said: “Your Excellency, I have known you for a long time and I know you as a man of quality. Our people have come from all over the State just to hear you speak and I am sure that the reaction is positive. Our elders says ‘the evening shows how the night will be’ and from what you have seen today, I’m sure you know our delegates are very impressed by you and they will speak with one voice when the convention comes.”
While addressing the delegates, Otunba Daniel said his mission in contesting for the chairmanship was to promote internal democracy and return power to the grassroots so that the people can have a say in determining their destiny.
He noted that unlike what obtains before, other aspirants have been forced to hit the roads to meet with delegates since he started his state-to-state campaigns. Such innovation, he stressed, is helping PDP gain more momentum and renew hope among party members.
He promised to practise politics of inclusion when he gets to office saying everyone will be carried along without exception.
