A tormented 15-year-old girl killed herself over rumours her ex-boyfriend had posted explicit photographs of her online, her dad has claimed.
He also said Karina Saifer Oliveira, of Nova Andradina, southeastern Brazil, was also racially abused by others before her tragic death.
The schoolgirl is said to have had a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old boy when she was just 14 years old.
However in the run up to her suicide some locals spread stories he had posted intimate photographs of her on the internet.
Karina’s father, Aparecido Oliveira, said his daughter told him the photographs made her feel “trashy” but he told her it “didn’t have anything to do with her,” reports Buzzfeed News.
Brazil outlawed revenge porn in 2014 after a 17-year-old girl killed herself when her sex tape was leaked online.
Police are now reportedly investigating whether the photographs of Karina exist and if they are still circulating online.
The teenager’s father, who works as a security guard, said Karina was also sent “hateful” messages from her peers for more than a year before she died.
The messages bullied her for having afro hair, which Karina regularly straightened.
“She didn’t like her hair because people kept criticising her about it,” her father said, “that’s racism”.
After Karina killed herself, the family was further hurt when one of her sisters saw a photograph of her body posted on a Whatsapp group.
The family have filed a complaint about the leaked image with the Nova Andradina Police Department, which is investigating the death of the teenager.
