…says I want to use them for money rituals
Detectives attached to Lagos State Police Command yesterday arrested a Muslim cleric, Alfa Kayode Abdulfatai, with human parts at Alakuko area. Policemen from Alakuko Police Division arrested Abdulfatai at Okeidumola Street, where the human parts were kept in a room.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, who visited the apartment where the human parts were kept, disclosed that the suspect was arrested following report from residents. He said the suspect’s arrest was part of the gains of community policing and safety partnership.
The recovered human parts, which included a female private part, heart, kidney and lap, were stored in a container with liquid substance. When asked how the parts found their way into his apartment, Abdulfatai said they were given to him to keep by an Ifa priest whose name he gave simply as Sadiq.
He said: “Sadiq gave them to me. We intended to use the parts for money ritual for a client. A man brought the parts to him. I don’t even know where the person lives. “I have been an Alfa for 10 years but I have never prepared any money ritual concoction with human parts before; this is my first time.”
However, his alleged partner in crime was not at home at the time Edgal visited. But the commissioner directed the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Alakuko, CSP Ajayi Abayomi, to place plainclothes policemen close to the priest’s apartment on Amje Igbeleyi Street, Alakuko. However, at press time, it was learnt that Sadiq had been arrested by the plainclothes policemen positioned at his residence.
