Three persons suspected to be part an armed robbery gang that have been terrorising Ogijo and its environs, have been nabbed by men of the Ogun State police command.
The trio were rounded up around 9:00p.m, on Saturday, during one a robbery operation.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, policemen attached to Ogijo Divisional Headquarters had received a distress call from Baale Street, Molatori, Ogijo, that robbers had invaded the residence and residents were being dispossessed of their belongings.
The statement quoted Oyeyemi as saying, “Having received the distress call, the DPO of Ogijo Division, SP Tijani Mohammed led his anti-robbery men to the scene where they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. At the end of the encounter, three members of the gang, Yusuf Odugbemi, Tunde Asamu and Sunday Azeez were arrested while others escaped.
“Weapons recovered from them are one live cartridge, two cutlasses and assorted charms.
“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the FSARS for discreet investigation with the view of arresting the fleeing members of the gang, while assuring residents of the state of adequate security at all time,” Oyeyemi stated.
