37-year-old Mukaila Bello, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for reportedly impregnating and making his wife’s sister, Basirat, who was brought into his wife’s protective custody, to abort three times for him.
Basirat who came to live with Bello’s wife in Ajah area of Lagos after their parents died in 2014 when she was barely 15, was reportedly drugged and deflowered by a 34-year-old
teacher , Folorunsho Joseph, attached to the private school she was enrolled in Ikota.
However Bello, a father of four, who took advantage of the abuse his wife’s sister went through in the hands of the teacher, forced Basirat to have an abortion in a ‘chemist’. He continued having sex with her till she got pregnant again, and then took her to a hospital in the Orile, where another abortion was carried out.
Bello who works with a charity organisation on Victoria Island, Lagos State, reportedly went down to Ijebu Ode, Ogun State where his wife’s sister relocated to live with some in-laws after telling her grandparents, had sex with her and got Basirat pregnant for the third time which she also aborted.
Basirat was taken to the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where medical tests confirmed she was indeed defiled, after family members petitioned the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender.
Confirming the sad incident, the daughter of the man whose house Basirat relocated to in Ogun State, revealed that Bello from Kwara State was known to her family as Basirat’s boyfriend.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, who confirmed that the case was reported to Area J Police Command, Elemoro by OPD, disclosed that the teacher who first raped Bello’s wife’s sister in 2014 and one of those who conducted the abortions have also been arrested, alongside Bello. According to him, the suspects had been arraigned in court on Friday.
