The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aniocha North Local Council of Delta State has suspended a former member of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu and five other members indefinitely.
A statement by the secretary of the party in the locality, Julius Egoh, said the suspension was as a result of their misconduct and indiscipline.
“The actions of the suspended members were considered inimical to the peace and progress of the party in the area,” the statement added.
The other suspended members are: Kress Njiokwuemeni, Chuks Oseme, Michael Osuoza, Emma Eboh and Kaikene Okolie.
“A decision was unanimously reached after taking a close look at their indiscipline and misconduct, which are inimical to the peace and progress of the party in Aniocha North.
“Their suspension takes immediate effect from February 18, 2018, to act as deterrent to other elements in the party, who may want to cause crisis at any given opportunity for personal interests.
“For the avoidance of doubts, the party will no longer condone any form of indiscipline and unruly behaviour of some members, no matter their political status.”
Elumelu, who spoke to The Guardian from overseas, noted that it was not possible to suspend him at the local council level when he has not been suspended in his ward.
“It is not possible for them to suspend me when my ward has not done so. Moreover, the secretary who signed the suspension letter is on suspension for anti-party activities.
