The entire Barakin-Ladi local government area of Plateau State was thrown into mourning and confusion on Sunday following the gruesome killing of eight persons at a relaxation spot by gunmen.
It was garnered that unfortunate incident occurred close to the entrance of Nding loh community of Barkin Ladi LGA.
An eyewitness told Nigerian Tribune that the gunmen armed with sophisticated weapon stormed the joint at about 8:45 pm and opened fire at random on those within the vicinity and killed six while five others sustained injuries.
The eyewitness further disclosed that the attackers who were about fifteen in number sneaked into the community and proceeded to the drinking joint to carry out the dastardly act adding six died on the spot while two others died in the early hour of Monday at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital.
He added that the community has been under threat of attack a few days ago following a misunderstanding at a mining site in the community.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the popular drinking joint has for long being a rendezvous for illegal miners in the area adding that it has always been a beehive of activities where people mostly illegal miners gathered at the close of work every day to relax.
When Nigerian Tribune visited the community people were seen discussing the unfortunate incident while some members of the community called on the state government, especially the security agents to track down the attackers.
When contacted the State Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Terna Type confirmed the killings but added that information available to him was still sketchy.
