Captain Muhammad Bala Jibrin has declared for the Bauchi All Progressives Congress ( APC) governorship ticket in the 2019 general elections.
He declared his intention at a press conference in Bauchi Saturday.
Jibrin said that he decided to join the governorship race to answer the calls of the downtrodden, traditional institutions, artisants, the market men and women, the business community and the political class.
“For me to step in as an arrowhead of a collective mission to rescue Bauchi state from the path of destruction, bankruptcy and inept leadership. I, this afternoon formally throw my heart in the ring with a big YES, I will run for the Governorship ‎of the great state of Bauchi under my party, the APC come 2019,”he said.
He added that h‎is acceptance was borne out of patriotism to restore the lost glory of the state.
“The hopes and aspirations of the citizens post 2015 General Elections ‎ was so very high, in view of the contributions free of any financial inducement on the part of the victor in the governorship elections. Come to think of it, even the party delegates who were promised XYZ if he emerged winner had to wait from 2014 to 2018 for the fulfillment of a pledge for securing of nomination,”he said.
Jibrin noted that the state has fallen into the hands of an opportunistic leadership ‎which is displaying incompetence and lack of knowledge of rudiments of leadership.
On his part, Muhamm‎ad Aminu Tukur said that he is running for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat ticket in order to fill the vacancy left by late Senator Ali Wakili.
“It is important to note that the vacuum created with the demise of Mallam Ali Wakili mni can best be filled in by someone who has the capacity to at least‎ match the calibre of representation noticed with the tenure of the late distinguished Senator,”he said.
Tukur who represents Lere/Bula constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly said that having been in the legislature for two terms he has the capacity to deliver.
“Our contributions on the floor of the Bauchi State House of Assembly remains unparalleled and unchallenged and our stand against unpopular policies of governance from the Executive Arm remains undisputable,”he said.
