Lara Day School, one of Nigeria’s foremost private schools recently hosted its annual Family Fun Day – encouraging family bonding and skill-based education. The event had in attendance parents, pupils, alumni and other stakeholders of the school community.
Speaking at the Fun Day, Lara Day School’s Head of School, Mrs. Patricia Tioluwani said in preparing its pupils for the future opportunities, it is imperative to empower them with skill-based education.
“Lara Day School wants everyone to know that play is an essential and core part of learning and child development; one cannot deny a child of play, and expect to have a rounded child.” Our aim is to educate our immediate and external audiences that play helps a child develop physical skills, problem solving skills and ability to concentrate”, she stated.
According to the PTA Chairman of the school, Mrs. Tinuke Afe-Ajanaku, “Lara Day School is a family school; with over 50 years of existence and an unfeigned commitment to giving the best of qualitative education using current and future instructional methods to enhance learning for the children”.
The fun-filled event saw the pupils and parents engaged in several activities, such as riding, painting, mountain climbing, playing of video games, competitions, table-tennis etc.
Family Fun Day is one of the school’s biggest events usually in celebration of the Children’s Day. It is an avenue for children and families to come together; bond, network and know themselves better.
Located at 19, Adeniji Jones Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Lara Day School operates crèche, pre-nursery, nursery and primary school. And has over 30 full-time, dedicated, experienced and professionally qualified teachers who seek to keep abreast of developments in education on the international scene.
