There are good people and there are those that are naturally bad or less concerned with the needy in the society. In both categories, Nollywood industry is never short of them. But one celebrity that has always stands out is Iyabo Ojo.
And this was also confirmed by the submission of one, Tunde Alabi Lawal, a shoemaker by profession.
Read and watch his edited story below:
My name is Tunde Alabi Lawal. I was shot in a commercial bus on my way coming back from work on July 7, 2013. And since then I have been through unbearable pain morning and night due to my spine injury.
I was discharged due to lack of fund for the surgery after spending 6months in the hospital, Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital in Palmgrove, Lagos.
I am into shoe-making but the pain I go through morning and night is unbearable.
It is a must I take strong analgesic, even at that sleep eludes me daily. The situation is so bad that I mess up myself anytime while sitting or on bed because I can’t control my bladder.
Aishat Alubankudi was the first person to come to my aid, when I undergo my first surgery in Abuja Primus hospital that led to about ten bullets removed from my spine and the doctor said I will still need to undergo another surgery to remove the remaining bullets as shown in my X-ray.
The estimated cost is for the surgery to be done in India is is $16000 and with intensively monitored physiotherapy to help build my nerves & muscles.
I will be travelling with my mum as my aid and the doctor said we will be spending a month for proper treatment and physiotherapy.
The $16000 will cover for our visa, ticket, surgery and welfare for a month. I got a visa last year when I first learnt that I can get my spine and legs fix in India but it expired when I wasn’t able to raise the fund.
I have that strong faith in me that I can still walk again if I can get the necessary medical attention to help me back to my feet.
I can no longer stand tall as I used to before. I believed with everyone’s support I can get back to my normal life.
He then went ahead to appeal to all Nigerians.
Please I am begging all goodhearted humans to give a reason to smile again.
But he didn’t forget those who had made contributions before, especially the London based Nigerian social media activist, Aishat Alubankudi.
My sincere gratitude goes to Madam Aishat Alubankudi, who solely finance my first surgery in Abuja and also got me an apartment. Focus on Disability Foundation UK who helped me with d balance of the rent, Ms Ebube Nwagbo and Mrs Iyabo Ojo.
Not also forgetting Victoria Lasbrey, who raised an awareness on my behalf on Facebook and so many numerous anonymous Nigerians, who has deposited their token into my account towards my treatment. I really appreciate and still seek d support of other Nigerians to help me.
