According to Daily Trust, Atiku, a former vice president of Nigeria, made the appeal illustrating with a short story while addressing supporters of the party at the state secretariat in Dutse.
Atiku acknowledges cheers from supporters in Dutse, Jigawa state
He reportedly said in the days of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the National Republican Convention (NRC), the former president, late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, dropped his governorship ambition of Katsina state to pave way for his elder brother, who was eyeing the presidential position under same party.
“I am older than Sule Lamido, therefore, he should step aside for his elder brother,” he appealed.
Atiku further confirmed visiting the state on his Twitter handle.
“We were in Jigawa today and it was a very impressive turnout of PDP stakeholders and delegates. Thank you Jigawa for the support and reception. Nagode, Allah ya kara zumunchi,” he said.
We earlier reported that Atiku Abubakar said he is not a corrupt person. The former VP also declared that nobody has been able to provide evidence of corruption against him.
Atiku disclosed this in Ekiti state on Tuesday, September 4, when he was in the fountain of knowledge to consult with Governor Ayo Fayose on his presidential ambition.
“I have always said that if they have any evidence of corruption against Atiku, please come forward. But nobody has been able to come forward,” he said
