The suspected head of a gang that terrorises residents in Kubwa, an Abuja satellite town, during early hours and rob them of their phones, money, and other valuables, has been arrested.
The suspect reportedly ran out of luck when he was apprehended by some of his victims but two of his accomplices escaped. He was subsequently taken to the Kubwa General hospital where he is receiving medical attention for injuries he sustained to the head when his victims attacked him.
Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen said another similar gang of early morning attackers numbering about three who used to steal money and phones from the residents while leaving for early morning prayer or working place, have recently been arrested and handed over to the FCT police command CID for further investigation.
Speaking with our reporter on his hospital bed, the 19-year-old suspected gang leader who gave his name as Mustafa Abubakar, said he hailed from Yelwa area under Dala Local Government Area in Kano state, and that he has been involved in the criminality activities for almost two years. He however pleased for mercy, promising not to return to criminality.
One of attacks victims who operate a provision shop around Kubwa NNPC junction, told our reporter on Tuesday that the gang members have attacked about five business places and also a transporter on the day of the incident, before they were chased from an ECWA Church in the area where they made their last operation.
