The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has tagged tomorrow’s governorship primary election in the state as “no nonsense” saying it would be “fire for fire.”
Speaking during a grand rally organised in support of his anointed candidate, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Idris, Gov. Yari said those who wanted peace would see peace and those who did not want peace would see otherwise.
Gov. Yari then took a swipe at the other aspirants on APC’s platform known as Group 8, saying they were envious and weak-minded.
Yari added that they would be defeated in the primary.
“I have tagged this election as “no nonsense.” We made no mistake in anointing Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Idris because it has been a tradition that we anoint candidates at the end of our tenures. Former Governor, Ahmed Sani, anointed his then Deputy, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, and we raised no eyebrow on that.
“But some people, out of envy and weak mindedness are challenging our decision because they did not learn a lesson from the previous decisions. They should learn to respect the decision of leadership. We are hopeful that we will become triumphant Insha Allah,” he added.
He described the G8 as selfish politicians who had no interest in the development of Zamfara State.
The G8 are the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Wakkala, Sen. Kabir Marafa, Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, Aminu Sani Jaji, Engr. Abu Magaji, Dauda Lawal and Mohammed Sagir Hamidu.
The Chairman of APC elders Committee in the state, Alhaji Lawal Abubakar Kaura, said the decision of the governor to anoint his Commissioner for Finance was endorsed by majority of stakeholders.
