The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Kano yesterday raised the alarm over poor funding and proliferation of state universities as against the content of the Memorandum of Action (MoA) signed in September 2017 between ASUU and the Federal Government.
Addressing a press briefing at the ASUU zonal secretariat in Bayero University Kano, ASUU zonal coordinator, Professor Mahmud Muhammad Lawan, said:“A good example of this disturbing phenomenon are states like Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Edo, Gombe and currently Bayelsa states were state government could fund, pay salaries of staff members of the existing institutions and yet went ahead to establish new ones.”
