The Nigerian Army is currently engaging in a fierce battle with the Boko Haram insurgents in Bama and Beneshiek, Borno State.
A security source who craved anonymity told The Nation that the attack on Bama has been successfully repelled by the military while that of Beneshiek is said to be ongoing.
Beneshiek which is located along the Damaturu/Maiduguri Highway is 75km to Maiduguri and 60km away from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Modu Ari, a resident of Beneshiek who spoke to The Nation from his hiding spot on phone said that they started hearing gunshots and heavy artillery sounds from far until the fight finally got closed on the town.
It was also gathered that residents of Mainok and Jakana, two towns on the same high way were also said to have been running in droves following fear of impending attack by the insurgents on the town.
