Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari will be more resolute in the fight against corruption if reelected.
Osinbajo said the government would convict more corrupt Nigerians found culpable in anti-graft matters so as to move the country forward.
He disclosed this during a door-to-door campaign at Ifako-Ijaiye in Lagos, urging the electorate to reelect the All Progressives Congress (APC), if the growth and development achieved by the administration are to be sustained.
The Vice President wondered why any reasonable Nigerian would think of returning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he said, destroyed basic infrastructure in the country during its 16 years administration due to massive corruption.
He assured the electorate that government would provide jobs for youths, improve power supply and provide enough resources to financially empower petty traders and other business owners.
His words: “The difference between us and PDP is that we don’t steal government resources. We use it for the people. We earn less and we spent more on the welfare of people than the previous government.
“Everybody knows Buhari is a honest man. He will not steal public funds. We shall continue to fight corruption so that we can have enough money to provide infrastructure. We have to build on the foundation we have laid.
“Corrupt people would be jailed. That is why the corrupt elements in the opposition are desperate to regain power but we can’t leave government for them. You should vote for APC because it is the only party that can do the job. We should not allow PDP to return to power.”
He also assured of creation of more jobs for the youths, improved power supply and provision of infrastructure, adding: “We are going to complete Lagos-Kano Rail, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Second Niger Bridge.”
