Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has warned the state civil servants against populating the payroll with their wives and children so as to enjoy the maximum benefits of government effort to enhance workers’ welfare in the state.
Speaking during the May Day celebration in Gusau, Yari who was represented by the secretary to the state government Professor Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi said putting children on payroll amounted to betrayal of trust and principles of fairness
” It will be unfair and unjust for the civil servants to put their wives and small children on payroll and this will affect the effective delivery of service to the larger population, ” he said.
Governor Yari said he would settle the backlog of gratuities before leaving office and he would be the first to pay the N30,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
He then urged the workers to give maximum support to the government and stand firmly for justice by blocking all leakages.
In his speech, the chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress in the state, comrade Bashir Mafara urged the state government to fulfil her all promises to workers in the state.
