The Ekiti state football association on Sunday held its general assembly and came up with far reaching resolutions that would help move forward football in the state, particularly, the much anticipated elections into the FA board.
In a communiqué signed and released by its drafting committee which included the Ekiti FA Secretary, B.S Idowu, Messrs Kehinde Anjorin and Adetunji Adu, the general assembly appreciated the support of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, the Ministry of Youths and Sports under the leadership of Pastor Michael Awopetu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr. Yemi Owoseni and the management of the Ekiti State Sports Council led by Chief Ayodeji Samo.
The communiqué by the General Assembly of the Ekiti State Football Association thanked the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation led by Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick. And pledged its loyalty and full support to the country’s soccer governing body.
The Genera Assembly, thereafter, approved May 28, 2019, as the date for the elective congress of Ekiti State FA.
They unanimously agreed that the electoral committee set in place for the Ekiti FA 2019 election should continue with the assigned task of organising a free and fair election.
According to the communiqué, the Ekiti State Football Association General Assembly also ratified the suspension of Mr. Adelakun Olusegun, Chairman of Ikere Local Football Council and Mr. Lanre Ajayi of the Ekiti State Coaches Association for violating the Nigeria Football Federation Statutes (Article 13, section 1, subsection F), as well as the Ekiti FA Statutes on same subject.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti FA electoral committee has reiterated their readiness to conduct elections into various positions of the board of the FA, as stipulated by the electoral guidelines and statutes of the NFF.
It also informed that sales of forms for election into the board which started in January, 2019, has been extended from Monday May 13 to Friday May 17, 2019.
It also fixed Monday May 20, 2019, for screening, while Tuesday May 21, 2019 is the day for publishing of successful candidates who will contest the FA elections.
