Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has called for an inquiry into claims against the Muslim Rights Issue (MURIC)
The Islamic party has been accused of collecting money from Islamic State for the Province of West Africa (ISWAP).
However, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the director of MURIC, denied obtaining any money from any militant organization in or outside Nigeria.
The accusation was defined by Akintola as unlogical, and a wicked concoction.
Reacting on his Twitter account, Fani-Kayode urged the federal government to investigate the MURIC claim.
According to him, federal government should declare MURIC a terrorist organisation if the allegation is true.
His tweet read: “The allegation by a fmr. Head of Intelligence of Mali that the Ishaq Akintola-led MURIC is funded by ISWA is grave.
“I call on the federal government to investigate this matter &, if proved to be true, declare MURIC a terrorist org., ban it, prosecute its leaders &, if found guilty, hang them.”
