A Civil Society Organization, popularly known as The Nigeria Vaguard(TNV), has bitterly challenged the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu for engineering the falsehood that led to the inclusion of Dr. Gimba Ya’u Kumo in the list of Wanted Persons by ICPC, as against the ICPC Act 2001.
The National President of “The Nigeria Vanguard” made the statement while reacting to findings in the ICPC which uncovered that the partition it received from the Presidency was signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, in the office of the Vice President, and was master minded by the SSA to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, amongst others.
The findings was discovered few hours after Dr. Gimba Ya’u Kumo broke the silence about an alleged accusation by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission(ICPC) for the misappropriation of $65M. In the letter which was addressed to the Chairman of ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye and dated May 18, 2021, Kumo stated that it was constitutionaly against the ICPC Act 2001, Section 29, 30, 31, and 32 to declare a person wanted without any initial invitation and fair hearing.
The Nigeria Vanguard have wondered before now why such accusation and declaration was made without fair invitation, until its recent findings both in the President Villa and the ICPC on those behind the false allegations thrown at Gimba without dueful constitutional provisions. Although it is obvious that several independent organizations have continue to go against their own ethics and constitutional backgrounds, especially when it’s been sponsored by affluence, even when it is explicitly unconstitutional.
The National President had also earlier condemned the SSA to the President for being deceptive and telling too many lies to Nigerians. He noted that in may 2021, Garba Shehu had publicly shared lies to Nigerians and some of which he later deleted from his Twitter account after when reports confirmed it was untrue. The first was the initial statement on the 11th of May 2021 stating that the official residence of the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari in Aso Rock wasn’t robbed, when indeed reports confirmed that that it was. After the reports confirming the robbery on Aso Rock, Garba Shehu shamefully deleted the statement(tweet) he had earlier shared from his Twitter account.
Few days ago, he approached Nigerians again with another fake news, falsefully claiming that the Former Managing Director of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Gimba Ya’u Kumo isn’t an In-law of President Muhammadu Buhari. The National President further noted that the falsity of the statement is really embarrassing, especially when it’s coming from a highly positioned media Personality like Garba Shehu, who should be more knowledgeable on the affairs of the nation, instead of misdirecting Nigerians..
Dr. Gimba Ya’u Kumo has been wrongly accused of misappropriation of certain amount of monies, which he later challenged with a statement containing proofs of all the documentations for every transaction he had with regards to the National Housing Funds. However The Nigeria Vanguard are of the opinion that Gimba Ya’u Kumo has continue to frontline several development initiatives in Nigeria that has encouraged increase in employment, human capita development and other economic improvements for the nation.
