Some social media users have reacted to the arrest of a suspected assassin, Yusuf Isah, who was alleged to be among gunmen who made an attempt on the life of the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
In several posts on Twitter, they demanded further probe to reveal those behind the incident.
Suleman’s convoy was attacked by gunmen along the Benin-Auchi Road, as six people, including three policemen, were killed.
The police were said to have begun a manhunt for the assailants, which led to the arrest of Isah, a native of Okene, Kogi State.
The suspect was paraded in Abuja on Thursday, where he confessed that the attack was meant to assassinate the cleric.
Reacting to the report on Twitter, some tweeps and followers of the cleric expressed gratitude to God for the arrest and commended the police.
An author and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, said he just saw the video of the suspect’s confession.
“We already know it was an attack and not all the lies that were peddled. All we want to know is who sent them? That must not be swept under the carpet. Seems to be a well-funded job. This is very clear. Who sent him?” he wrote.
One Olola @Olola expressed excitement at the suspect’s arrest.
“It gladdens my heart as I heard good news as regarding Apostle Johnson Suleman as police arrest kidnappers hired to eliminate the renowned man of God even as he confessed all plots. God will indeed protect His own,” he added.
Another user, Hassan @humairehhassan wrote that the development was proof that Suleman was serving “the living God”.
A tweep, Ayo @Nooor wrote, “Apostle Johnson Suleman’s life is one of many testimonies that God of OFM is a wonderworking God as assassins arrested and confess to the police.”
A user, Cosmic Planner @marvin0780, called for “a continuous raid of these criminals to reduce the weapon proliferation in the country.”
“The weapons available for the disposal of criminals in Nigeria cannot be quantified. The continuous mop-up and the further securing of the borders will go a long way in reducing this weapon proliferation,” he added.
Another user, ThisOrilepikinsef, wrote, “OFM followers mark a historic day as hired assassins confess to the plot of assassinating Apostle Johnson Suleman uncovered by Nigeria Police.”
