A Japan Airlines airplane was in flames on the runway of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Tuesday, television pictures showed.
The fire broke out near the runway, and a firefighting operation is underway and passengers are being evacuated from the aircraft. Flames are also coming from inside the cabin as of 5:55 p.m. local time, Japanese media reported.
A camera installed by JNN TV at Haneda Airport showed a Japan Airlines passenger plane catching fire as it was about to land at Haneda Airport at 5:47 p.m.
JNN said people who appear to be passengers can be seen escaping from the aircraft. The video shows the front of the aircraft crashing into the runway, and flames are coming from inside the aircraft.
