Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has announced with deep sorrow the passing of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, who died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The announcement, made through a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Hamisu Gumel, revealed that the loss occurred while Governor Namadi is on an official trip to China, where he is working on initiatives to strengthen economic ties and attract investments to Jigawa State.
The passing of Hajiya Maryam has been a tremendous shock to the governor and the people of Jigawa, and concerns have arisen about his ability to attend her burial, scheduled for today at 4:30 PM in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic customs.
In his statement, Governor Namadi expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy from across the state and beyond, while requesting prayers for the repose of his mother’s soul. Hajiya Maryam was remembered as a pillar of strength, compassion, and dedication, leaving behind a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
The burial will be attended by family, dignitaries, and well-wishers, who are expected to offer their condolences and prayers for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
