Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar calls on Nigerians to embrace charity, prayers, and unity during Ramadan, urging support for the needy
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged Muslims across Nigeria to use the holy month of Ramadan as a period of charity, compassion, and prayers for the nation’s growth.
In a statement marking the beginning of Ramadan, Atiku stressed the importance of generosity, urging Nigerians to extend their support beyond their immediate families and assist those in need.

“The lifestyle of the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) should be our guide, as he taught us the immense benefits of being generous, especially during the month of Ramadan,” he stated.
Atiku also acknowledged the economic struggles many Nigerians face and called on governments at all levels to take concrete measures to ease the burden on citizens.
“Nigerians are passing through harsh economic situations, and it is necessary that governments provide palliatives to support the people and alleviate their living conditions,” he urged.
The former vice president emphasised the spiritual significance of Ramadan, encouraging Nigerians to use the month for personal reflection and collective prayers for the nation’s progress.
“I urge that we remember Nigeria in our prayers and call on governments to provide the necessary succour that will ease the pains in the lives of Nigerians during the Ramadan fasting and beyond,” he added.
Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam, is observed by millions of Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, devotion, and increased charitable acts. It fosters a sense of community, self-discipline, and empathy for those in need.
Atiku’s message reinforces the values of generosity, unity, and faith as Nigeria navigates economic challenges, urging both citizens and leaders to work together in fostering a more supportive society.
