A Nigerian Air Force airstrike has targeted Boko Haram enclaves in Borno, dealing a severe blow to terrorist activities in the region
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out a precision airstrike against Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, significantly weakening the terrorist group’s presence in the region.
This operation, which took place on 16 March 2025, targeted two key Boko Haram enclaves in Chikide and Degbewa, deep within the Mandara Mountains, a known stronghold of the insurgents.

The NAF, acting on credible intelligence and reconnaissance reports, targeted critical terrorist hideouts, including a fortified command hub that was equipped with solar-powered installations.
The precise airstrike, launched during the night, caught the insurgents by surprise and disrupted their activities in the area.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, surveillance missions over the area confirmed the presence of terrorist leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters.
Intelligence reports suggested that Ngulde and his group were meeting at a fortified location in Degbewa, prompting the NAF to carry out a targeted strike.
The airstrike targeted key insurgent positions within the rugged terrain of the Mandara Mountains, which is notorious for being a challenging area for military operations.
The precision attack led to the destruction of critical logistical and command structures used by the terrorists. Large fires erupted at the site, and multiple terrorists were neutralised in the process.
“This operation demonstrates the NAF’s growing capacity for both day and night air operations. By executing such a precise and effective night-time strike, the NAF has proven that insurgents can no longer operate freely under the cover of darkness,” Ali stated in the report.
The success of this mission highlights the NAF’s commitment to neutralising terrorist networks in northern Nigeria and restoring peace to the region.
The airstrike marks another significant step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle Boko Haram’s operations in the northeast.
The NAF has been steadily enhancing its air capabilities, conducting both day and night operations to disrupt terrorist activities, reduce their mobility, and degrade their operational capacity.
In addition to this successful mission, the Nigerian military continues to monitor Boko Haram’s movements in the region, with further operations expected to take place as the fight against the insurgent group intensifies.
