The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has returned to the country from his medical vacation in Germany.
The governor left the country some months ago for medical treatment in Germany.
The Ondo State Majority Leader, Mr Wole Ogunmolasuyi, who confirmed this development to our correspondent, said the governor was already in his Ibadan residence.
Ogunmolasuyi said, “We thank God the governor has returned to the country. He landed in Abuja and moved straight to Ibadan.”
The news of his return was earlier confirmed by the X (formerly Twitter) handle of his wife Betty who posted his picture in an aeroplane and wrote simply, “Homebound” with emojis of finger pointing at a house, indicating homecoming.
A source, who also spoke with our correspondent, said the governor would arrive in Ibadan, Oyo State, and stay in his personal residence for a few days before heading to Ondo State.
The source said, “With what I heard, he would stay in Ibadan for a while before coming to Ondo State to resume office. Tomorrow (Friday) we will make everything official.”
Before his departure to Germany for a medical vacation, Governor Akeredolu had informed the Ondo State House of Assembly, about his trip and also handed the power to his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in an acting capacity.
A week ago, the Chief Press Secretary to Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde, in a statement, hinted that his boss was still recuperating in Germany and not yet back but said the governor’s return would be made public whenever he returns.
The statement read, “Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has not yet returned to the country. The governor is currently still on a medical vacation in Germany.
“We would like to assure the good people of Ondo State and Nigerians in general that the governor’s return will be widely publicised.’’
