The Plateau State Police Command says it has declared thirteen more suspects wanted in connection with the death of a former Army Chief of Administration, General Mohammed Alkali, who was killed and his corpse discovered in an abandoned well in Jos South Local Government Area of the state in 2018.
The police had earlier declared eight persons wanted, including the Village Head of Dura –Du District in the Jos South LGA, Yakubu Rap.
They and others are currently standing trial at a Jos High Court in connection with the killing after they willingly submitted themselves to the police.
Among those declared wanted in the latest efforts by the police were 12 males from Dwei village in Du district and one other male from Gushen village, in Jos South Local Government Area.
According to the police, the names of the suspects are, Kannan Nyam, Solomon Gyang Jang, Dustine (Surname Unknown), Dung Deme, Gyang Murrak, and Da Chuwang Samuel.
Others were Nyam Samuel and Dung Gbeh, Daddy Dogo,James Dung, Gyang Dung and Jay Boy.
A statement by the Spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Mathias Tyopev, obtained by the PUNCH in Jos on Thursday said the suspects were declared wanted following further investigation into the circumstances that led into the death of the former retired army officer.
It said, “After an elaborate, discreet and painstaking investigation into the Culpable Homicide case of late Major General IM Alkali (retired) by Plateau State Police Command Jos, it has further revealed that the following suspects now at large had actively participated in the illegal activities that led to the death of the late General.”
