Our Lagos Your Lagos (OLYL) at the weekend held a special Art Exhibition Concert and Awards ceremony which attracted a wide range of dignitaries from all walks of life including diplomats, top Lagos Business Arts Lovers, the movers and shakers of the entertainment industry, among others.
The event, held at the Nike Arts Gallery, Victoria Island also provided a veritable platform for the organisers of the event to showcase some of the interventions of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to revive the arts industry and make it economically viable.
Speaking on the event, Convener of Our Lagos Your Lagos and Executive Director of Connecting Lagos, Mr. Aregbe Idris said the event was also to encourage more investors into the arts and tourism industry and celebrate the wonderful cultural heritage that abounds in Lagos.
“We decided to bring people from different spheres of live to share experiences of living in Lagos and promote cultural heritage among Lagosians. Lagos is a cosmopolitan city, Lagos is emerging as a top City State not just in sub Saharan Africa but in the world and we thought it wise to find a melting point where we can connect all that makes Lagos what it is today,” Aregbe said.
The high point of the event was the endorsement of Ambode One-More-Time Campaign (AmboOneMoreTime) by diplomats, friends of Lagos as well as other stakeholders in the Arts and entertainment industry.
According to some of the diplomats, Governor Ambode has delivered good governance to Lagos in the last two and half years and as the 2019 election is fast approaching, he certainly deserves to get a second term to totally change the face of Lagos for good.
The hashtag #AmboOneMoreTime is set to go viral come next year as the electioneering activities enters full gear.
