The Anambra State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Sunday Ajayi, on Saturday died in an auto crash.
A source at the FRSC’s office in Awka said Ajayi died in the crash that occurred in the early hours of Saturday while returning from Kwara State where he had gone to attend a relation’s wedding.
The accident reportedly occurred on the highway leading to Agbor while approaching Asaba, the Delta State capital.
At the command’s headquarters in Awka, Anambra State capital, the FRSC flag was lowered.
The Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the death of the Anambra sector commander in the accident, which he said was caused by the driver of another vehicle who collided with Ajayi’s while the driver was doing a wrong overtaking.
He told SUNDAY PUNCH that three people died in the accident while the sector commander’s driver was recuperating in a hospital, whose name he did not disclose.
Our correspondent gathered that Ajayi’s last outing was at a lecture he gave to journalists on an ‘ember’ month campaign against over speeding.
