The Boko Haram insurgents have ambushed the Nigerian military troops in Yobe state killing many of them, WAR has learned.
The troops were last week ambushed by the Boko Haram insurgents at the Goniri community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state.
Local sources told WAR, the Boko Haram insurgents had last week ambushed the Nigerian troops killing a huge number of them.
One of the locals who spoke to WAR via a telephone conversation, said they do not know exactly the number of soldiers killed by the Boko Haram insurgents, but disclosed that the casualties are many.
Mr. Gaya, one of the sources who prefer only his first name mentioned, speaking to WAR in a telephone conversation from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, said the Yobe attack was massive while some of the soldiers are really complaining how they are been killed easily by the insurgents.
This is not the first time the Boko Haram insurgents are attacking Goniri, the insurgents attacked the community in June 2019 and were repelled by the military.
They also launched attacks at Goniri in October 2017, and later December 2018.
There have been increased attacks on the military and civilians by the Boko Haram in some communities in the northeast, with Borno state been the worse hit.
Angry with the numerous numbers of killings in the country, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian president, last week told the service chiefs, he can no longer tolerate excuses from them, ordering them to flush out all criminals attacking Nigerian communities or be sacked.
