The event, which took place over the weekend, marks a significant step in the NGO’s continued commitment to supporting law enforcement and contributing to community welfare.

Chukwuemeka Andrain Nwokeji, the president of the Imo State chapter of Brothers Across Nigeria International, led the commissioning and shared details of the project.
He explained that the NGO had built a state-of-the-art female cell, replacing outdated structures with new louvres and ceilings, transforming it into a first-class facility.
“We changed everything around the cell, the louvres, the ceilings, and made it a first-class female cell,” Nwokeji stated. “In the coming days, we will continue to support the police in their efforts to maintain order and security in our society.”
This renovation is part of a broader strategy to assist local law enforcement, which also includes providing support to prisons, hospitals, and schools. Nwokeji further commended the efforts of the Commissioner of Police for his dedication to maintaining peace and security in Imo State.
The national president of the NGO, Dr. Anthony Mark, was praised for approving the project. Nwokeji explained that the decision to renovate the police station and build the female cell was rooted in the organisation’s desire to support the police force and give back to the community.
“We applaud the police for their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and fighting crime. Our support will remain steadfast as they continue their efforts to maintain law and order,” Nwokeji added, emphasising the NGO’s ongoing involvement in community-based initiatives.
Imo State’s Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, expressed his gratitude to the organisation for their contributions to enhancing the welfare of female inmates.
He lauded the project, marking it as the third such initiative he had participated in since taking office in the state.
“We are grateful for this generous donation and will ensure that the new cell is well-utilised. Your resources have been wisely invested in the right place,” said Commissioner Danjuma.
The Divisional Police Officer at the New Owerri Division Police Station, CSP Abiden Salawu, also praised the NGO’s efforts.
He noted the importance of strong partnerships between the police and local communities in tackling crime effectively.
Salawu encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity to the police, underlining that collaboration is essential in crime prevention.
“Strong partnerships between the police and the community are key to fighting crime,” Salawu stated. “We cannot do it alone. The support we have received today will go a long way in enhancing our efforts to ensure security.”
Brothers Across Nigeria International’s latest initiative highlights the NGO’s commitment to creating positive change and fostering stronger ties between the police and the communities they serve.
The newly renovated police station and female cell serve as a testament to the NGO’s dedication to supporting law enforcement and making a tangible impact in Imo State.
