President Muhammadu Buhari has overruled the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Idris, on the police invitation of Senator Ademola Adeleke (PDP Governorship Candidate in the 22nd September, 2018 Gubernatorial Election in Osun State), to the force headquarters to answer to examination malpractice, criminal conspiracy, personation, breach of duty, aiding and abetting against him.
A top Presidency source confirmed the development to State House corespondents in Abuja on Wednesday.
The source which did not want to be identified, said Buhari ordered that Adeleke should not be invited until after Saturday’s election if necessary.
According to a statement issued Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, earlier in the day, Adeleke had been invited along with four others including, Mr. Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (Principal of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Egbedore LGA, Osun State), Mr. Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (School Staff responsible for the registration of candidates for NECO), Mr. Dare Olutope (School Teacher who allegedly facilitated the commission of the crime) to report to the Special Investigation Panel, Force Headquarters, Abuja immediately for arraignment in court.
