An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered the remand a of 16-year-old pupil, Kehinde Timilehin, who allegedly stabbed his schoolmate to death.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, ordered that the accused be kept at the State Children Correctional Centre pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
Adegboye subsequently adjourned the case till January 18, 2019.
Timilehin, a pupil of Ado Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, is standing trial for allegedly stabbing his schoolmate, Favour Matthew, in the chest on Thursday, December 6, 2018, after school hours.
Timilehin and Mathew were said to be testing the efficacy of a charm believed to prevent the penetration of weapons like cutlass and knife.
But the charm failed Mathew as the weapon with which Timilehin allegedly attacked him penetrated his body and he reportedly died at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ekiti State Criminal Investigation Department on the day of the incident.
