ST John Apostolic Faith Church Prophet and medical doctor is alleged to have bedded a nurse who is a member of his congregation.
Dr Richard Kudakwashe Mariga’s prophecies at his church are reported to be received with doubt following allegations that he is in an affair with Veronica Badzarigere who is also a nurse at one of the Clinics where the former works.
One of the church members told H-Metro that the congregation is awash with stories of Dr Mariga’s illicit affair with Veronica, a single mother that some are threatening to shame him when he stands up to preach.
“The behavior of Mariga is dividing our church after his illicit affair with a church member was exposed but leaders are failing to discipline him because he is a medical doctor,” said one of the church members.
“It is a fact that he helped many, with school fees and even sent some people to universities. He also gave two cars to the church but his behavior has become a nuisance after he was exposed that he is in an affair with sister Veronica.
“Very few, if any, have the guts to ask him but his behavior has affected the church especially when he is seen as a powerful preacher in front of the congregation,” said the member.
Contacted for comment, Dr Mariga could neither confirm nor deny the allegations demanding to see the person who took the story to the press.
“It is true that I fellowship with St John Apostolic church and I’m a medical doctor but what I want to know first is the person who brought the story to H-Metro,” said Dr Mariga refusing to answer further questions.
However, Dr Mariga’s wife Sekai Bongwe refused to delve into the story saying it will destroy her marriage.
“Who gave you my contact number? Have I not suffered enough because of this issue? I beg you to respect my family by not publishing this; zvakatotikuvadza and whatever you have been told I love my husband so much,” she said.
Veronica refused to reply messages sent on her mobile and was reported to be on off duty for the past two weeks.
