Evans, the notorious kidnapper, has transformed into a reformed man, his lawyer says, as he seeks mercy from Lagos State following government intervention
Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, the notorious kidnap kingpin, has reportedly undergone significant personal reform, according to his lawyer, Emefo Etudo.

In a statement made before a Lagos High Court in Ikeja, Etudo revealed that Evans is now a reformed and repentant individual, largely due to the influence of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Etudo, while addressing the court, confirmed that despite the amended five-count charge against his client—accusing Evans of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping—the convicted criminal had taken steps to seek redemption.
Evans has formally applied to the Lagos State Government for mercy through a plea bargain facilitated by the Attorney-General’s office.
“Our focus in this matter is the plea bargain which we have submitted to the state government. My client is now a repentant person,” Etudo said, stressing that Evans has turned his back on his criminal past.
He further disclosed that Evans, once consumed by crime, is now remorseful and pursuing a more positive future.
The lawyer also shared notable academic achievements of Evans during his time in prison. “Presently, he is a 200-level student of the National Open University.
In fact, he made A1 in all his papers in NECO while in prison,” Etudo stated, crediting the Federal Government’s scholarship programme for allowing Evans the opportunity to study and change his life.
Evans is also said to be keen on giving back to society by helping to steer young people away from crime. His lawyer revealed that the convicted kidnapper had expressed a desire to tour schools across Lagos State, delivering talks about the dangers of criminal activities to youth.
In an interview with journalists after the court session, Etudo reiterated his client’s transformation, declaring, “My client is now a changed man.
He has been transformed. His reformation was made possible by the RCCG and the Federal Government which gave him a scholarship to study and become a better person.”
