The FCT chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has expressed concern over the withholding of 25 per cent pension of its members by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) since 2005.
Addressing a press conference at the union’s secretariat at Giri in Gwagwalada Area Council at the weekend, Chairman of the union, Com. Ibrahim Terah Kwali, also decried non-remittance of the contributory pension to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) by the FCTA.
Com. Kwali said the most worrisome thing was the withholding of the 25 per cent pension, which he said was released to be paid to the affected staff since 2012.
Kwali also said money deducted from employees since 2004 were yet to be remitted to the PFAs.
buhariHe, however, said the press conference was at the instance of the directive of the national body of the union, which he said directed all state chapters, including the FCT, to press for the approval of the national minimum pension by the Federal Government.
“We are making passionate appeal to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Alh. Muhammad Musa Bello, to intervene in this matter since all efforts to see him have proved abortive,” he said.
