After weeks of speculation over his purported move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, yesterday announced his defection to APC.
Obanikoro, who also jostled for Lagos State governorship seat under the PDP announced his defection to APC during Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s 22nd Town Hall meeting with people of the Lagos Central Senatorial district, held yesterday at Lagos City Hall.
“Life is a journey. I am happy to be here today. Lagos Island is the beginning of everything. That I am here today is to express the fact that I am here with you and I am here to stay,” he said while addressing APC members and other participants at the town hall meeting.
Speaking on Obanikoro’s defection, the Lagos APC chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale said the former minister and other defector would soon be officially welcome to the ruling party with presentation of APC flags to them.
“Let me congratulate those who have intension of joining us; Musiliu Obanikoro and others. They have not joined us yet but I am hoping that they will join us very soon because I am yet to give them the party flag.
But I am sure very soon they will be part us. He is not the only one coming; I know many of them that are joining us,” he said.
