In addition to freezing Ekpa’s assets, Finnish officials have also seized the assets of companies linked to him and four alleged accomplices, who remain in remand.
The move underscores Finland’s tough stance on cases involving suspected terrorism.
Local media outlet Yle confirmed the development, with Sahara Reporters adding that Kylmäkoski Prison, known as one of the world’s toughest correctional facilities, is where Ekpa is being detained.
Given the rigorous measures taken by Finnish authorities, it is likely that Ekpa will remain in detention through the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Simon Ekpa, a controversial figure in the Biafran movement, has been under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in activities deemed a threat to public safety.
The freezing of his assets signals a broader effort by Finnish authorities to disrupt any financial networks connected to the allegations.
Ekpa’s detention has drawn attention globally, particularly among his supporters and critics, as the Finnish government continues its investigation into his activities.
