A former presidential candidate and National Chairman of Alliance National Party, Asiwaju Mashood Shittu, has admonished state governors to take advantage of the new minimum wage by making the workers in their respective states happy.
Answering questions from Journalists at the Ilorin Airport on Tuesday, Shitu said the governors should implement the N30,000 minimum wage without any excuse.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had signed the minimum wage into law a few weeks ago after the passage by the National Assembly.
According to him, there were a series of meetings between the Federal Government and the various state governors before reaching an agreement on the minimum wage and any excuse at this stage of the process is not tenable.
“So I don’t think the governors have any excuse not to implement the N30,000 minimum wage. It’s certain that the Federal Government will increase the financial allocations to the states to augment this development,” he noted.
