The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, has refuted allegation that he bribed the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, to doctor the outcome of governorship primary in the state.
The APC governorship candidate on Friday, November 16, made this known in a statement by his assistant media director, Emmanuel Ojo.
While maintaining that the allegation was untrue, Abiodun lauded the national chairman of APC, Oshiomole, for his steadfastness and unwavering stand on due process.
The statement read: “We wish to state unequivocally, that Dapo Abiodun does not believe in a compromised process and at no time was any party official, either from the state, regional or national level, was given any money by him to influence the peaceful and legitimate governorship primaries in Ogun state.
“We wish to state further that this allegation is a figment of the imagination of those making the claims, while we continue to commend the strict, fair and incorruptible nature of the Comrade Adams Oshiomole leadership.
“Finally, we advise the general public to discountenance this propaganda against Abiodun as there is no iota of truth in the apparently sponsored report which is targeted at blackmailing him and putting in jeopardy his political aspiration.”
Meanwhile, we had reported that governorship candidate of APC in Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, raised the alarm Governor Ibikunle Amosun was trying to influence decision of the party national working committee to recognise him as the guber candidate of the state.
Abiodun also accused Amosun of conspiring with the traditional rulers to deny him the governorship ticket ahead of the state next election.
In a statement issued on his behalf by Emmanuel Ojo, media director of his campaign organisation, the guber candidate said the governor asked two traditional rulers to appeal President Buhari not to accept him as the flagbearer of the APC in the state.
