Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland has denied issuing a threat to Ochereome Nnanna, the Chairman, Editorial Board of Vanguard Newspapers, to vacate Apapa within seven days.
Nnanna had faced serious backlash from Nigerians over a post he made on social media describing Yoruba people as “sophisticated morons” for celebrating the honour bestowed on the late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was reported that Adams had asked Nnanna to leave Apapa within seven days or face his wrath over the offensive remark.
However, Segun Akanni, Chief of Staff to the Aare, said the report is false, adding that his principal is not even aware Nnanna made any obnoxious remark about the Yoruba race.
“Please discountenance the report. Aare Ona Kakanfo never issued any threat asking anybody to leave. He will not do such a thing. In fact, he wasn’t even aware of the development until this evening. There is no such threat,” he said.
