Alex Iwobi says he prefers playing through the middle, as he targets a run in the Fulham team after helping them to earn a 1-1 draw against Brighton on Sunday.
Iwobi came into the side for Andreas Pereira and won the ball back for Joao Palhinha’s second-half equaliser at the Amex Stadium.
“I do enjoy playing in the middle”, said Iwobi, who joined Fulham for £22million from Everton in the summer. “I feel like I get the ball a lot more. I like to influence the game as much as I can for the team.
“It was an alright performance [from myself]. I feel I could have done a bit better, but the main thing is that we were able to get a point at a difficult stadium.”
Fulham head coach Marco Silva signed Iwobi for Everton and convinced him to make the switch to Craven Cottage.
Iwobi said, “He’s the one that actually got me to Everton. I did speak with him, and he has a lot of faith in me. For a player to have that trust and confidence from the manager allows you to go and express yourself and play with freedom. I just need to repay the faith.”
