The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board Executive Chairman, Dr. Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin on has reiterated the need to involve school children in the fight against global warming.
Speaking during a Quiz Competition on Climate Change organised by the Board, Dr. Sopeyin said children as the leaders of tomorrow should be involved in the fight against global warming at the early stage of their lives.
He stated that the Quiz Competition was one of the ways the Pupils in the State Government Primary Schools can be informed and educated on positive steps to combat global warming adding that, the State Government through the Ministry of the Environment is doing a lot in respect of global warming.
Sopeyin said pupils drawn from schools in the 20 local governments of the State participated in the competition as part of strategies to enlighten them about global warming and reiterated the Board’s commitment to repositioning Lagos State Basic Education to take a prime position in the country.
At the end of the competition, Agege Local Government Education Authority came 1st while Mushin Local Government Education Authority and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Education Authority came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
