Police in Ebonyi State, on Tuesday paraded three suspects for robbing and killing a businessman, Idam Ogbonnia in Amaisri community, Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.
This came after angry youths in the area attacked and buried alive, one of the suspects, Chukwudi Omaka. Omaka was among robbery suspects who allegedly robbed Ogbonnaya.
An eyewitness and resident of the community, Emmanuel Udu told New Telegraph that Omaka was also among the suspects who robbed one cold room known as “Etuelughu”, which belongs to Oko Udu Monday and another businessman identified simply as David who sells provision
“The boy was beaten thoroughly; despite that, he refused to call the names of his other members. He was later buried alive by Amasiri youths,” Emmanuel told our Correspondent.
It was learned that the youths of the area after burying Chukwudi Omaka, planted a tree on the grave in accordance with the customs of the community against anyone who committed a crime.
The tradition is said to be as old as the community.
