The Kano Police Command has warned against unnecessary movement by citizens or actions that could cause chaos in Saturday’s re-run election in the State.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa and issued to DAILY POST.
He said the command and other sister security agencies have completed all the security arrangements for the forthcoming re-run election for Dogowa, Bebeji and Kombotso Federal Constituencies scheduled to take place on Saturday 25th January 2020.
“Adequate security measures have been provided to ensure a level playing ground for all political parties for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Re-run Election”
Kiyawa said the need for the warning against movement and disturbance of peace followed due consultation with relevant stakeholders superintending over the election.
” there will be total restriction of movement of persons and vehicles on the election day between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm in the affected areas where election will take place, except personnel on essential duties who must carry their valid identification card”.
“only eligible registered Voters with valid Permanent Voters Card (PVC) will be allowed to vote and after voting must keep a distance of at least 300 meters away from the polling unit in accordance with the Electoral Act”.he stated.
The Command also called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion leaders and guardians to prevail on their children, subjects, adherents and wards not to allow themselves be used to cause disturbance of public peace before, during or after the election as anybody arrested in the act will face the full wrath of the law.
