State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria have been urged to emulate the transparent and participatory process of passing budget of the National Assembly to further enhance the well-being of Nigerians.
Similarly, the hierarchy of the National Assembly has been enjoined to sustain the policy to further make democracy more meaningful to average Nigerians.
These are contained in the resolutions of the Kwara State House of Assembly, while considering a Motion titled ” Appraising the National Assembly Display of Transparency in the 2017 Budget Process” sponsored by a member representing Kaiama/ Kemanji/ Wajibe Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Mohammed.
Reading the resolutions of the House, the Speaker Dr. Ali Ahmad, said the leadership of the National Assembly had demonstrated highest level of transparency in the history of National Assembly, adding that this should be emulated by the legislative arm of government at the State level to further demonstrate that legislature is the conscience of the people .
The legislature which urged the executive arm of government to implement the budget as passed, so as to ensure that Nigerians reap optimal benefits of the rigorous exercise of budget process.
The House then eulogised the steadfastness of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara in championing the course of good goverance, transparency and people oriented and practicable budget, inspite of all distractions.
The Law makers which according to the Speaker praised the National Assembly for making provision for the construction of various road projects in the State.
The Legislature equally commended National Assembly Members from the state for the unprecedented record of achievements brought to the State.
