As the controversy surrounding the leaked audio recording credited to the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, continues to cause disquiet in the All Progressives Congress (APC), a chieftain of the party, Princewill Dike, has reacted to it.
Dike said the minister, who is the is the director-general of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, has no reason to run down President Muhammadu Buhari, Leadership reports.
We recall that an audio recording was leaked on Friday, January 4, in which the minister said Nigerians are suffering under the administration of President Buhari, adding that the country would not change.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, has declared that the minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has no reason to run down President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement he issued in Port Harcourt on Monday, January 7, Dike said: “Amaechi is one of the few ministers who have unrestrained access to the president and his ears. You can see that he has no reason to run down his beloved boss behind the scene.
“Amaechi is a man of iron cast integrity and thus double standard is not in his gene, a man of rare courage, what he can’t say before you, he won’t say it behind you.
“The enemies have failed woefully with their doctored voice of Amaechi. If you believe that cloned voice, you will as well believe their propaganda that Jubril is a cloned Buhari.”
According to Dike, beneficiaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have not forgiven Wike since the APC ousted them in 2015. He said Amaechi was seen as the arrowhead of their defeat.
He said: “The latest twist is the audio doctoring of Amaechi’s voice wherein he was disparaging President Muhammadu Buhari and his achievements.
“Because the bonding between Buhari and Amaechi is like that of father and son: The president calls him, ‘Chibuike, my son’. Through Amaechi’s infrastructural renaissance in transportation sector, he earned the sobriquet of the poster boy of the Buhari administration.”
We previously reported that the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) asked President Muhammadu Buhari to step down from the presidential race following the leaked audio recording credited to the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Recall that Amaechi, who is the director-general of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, is heard in the audio condemning the current administration, saying Nigeria would not change.
According to PPCO, since the audio recording leaked on Friday, January 4, neither the minister nor the Buhari Campaign Organisation has denied or offer any cogent explanation on the matter.
The organisation stated that this is an indication that President Buhari has lost the loyalty of his support base.
